Pat Wehrman - Tile Making
January 26, 2003
This was a repeat of Pat's highly successful and over subscribed workshop given for OVCAG last June. All who attended that workshop enthusiastically gave it rave reviews for content, hands on project and FUN, as you can see in this picture from that workshop.
Ceramic tile is experiencing a resurgence and decorators and distributors are looking at small studio art tiles. What is art tile? What techniques are used to create it? How does one design a project? How to keep tile flat? What tools are needed? What kind of surface finishes are used? What is absorbency and how to test for it? These are just a few of the questions that will be explored in the lecture session of this workshop. In the hands-on portion, participants will design and make a 12" square tile panel in the incised Cuerda Seca technique that Pat uses.
