Bruce Bangert - SCULPITECTURE

Saturday and Sunday, April 3 & 4, 2004

The forces of nature are at the core of much of Bruce Bangert’s work. Whether created as a blow hole in an ocean cliff, a butte in the desert or natures destructive forces, i.e. floods and earthquakes, on man made structures, nature is always apparent.

Explore your inner spirit through abstract approaches of expression. We will challenge ourselves to examine form and personal vision. By various processes of folding, leaning or stacking, and direct manipulation of chunks, emphasis will be placed on creating sculptures with a profound, impenetrable presence.

A clay artist for four decades, Bruce Bangert, is the former head of “Aesthetics Studies of Ceramics” at the University of California at Santa Cruz. He has exhibited widely and his sculptures can be seen in many museums including the Smithsonian. His work has been included in “Ceramics Monthly” and “Ceramic Art & Perception” among other publications.
