Surface Decoration and Majolica Techniques

Two-Day Hands-on/Demo Workshop with Linda Arbuckle Saturday & Sunday, March 7 & 8th, 2009 at Clay Planet

Explore the magic of beautiful majolica and understand the differences between historic and contemporary majolica. In this hands-on workshop, attendees will experiment on tiles or bisque ware to do glazing and decorating, using techniques demonstrated by Linda. This session will show how to achieve the best glaze consistency for dipping, how to plan the design in relation to the ceramic form, and how to apply special glazes and wax resist to specific areas to achieve the majolica ware design. She will also show some of her work and a short video of Alan Caiger-Smith doing a brushwork demo.
